One of the most beautiful stretches of coast in the United States, the Californian Coast is full of well-known and secret little spots which make for the perfect Instagram photo!
It’s a stunning drive between these locations listed below on Highway 1. Highway 1 is the most scenic but longer way to go. If you don’t have as much time, consider taking highway 101 and making little detours of the places you want to see most. Up the north of the California coast, it can be a slow, windy drive. I believe it is worth it to discover the awesome locations you can find. I wouldn’t be so comfortable on Highway 1 in a large RV until south of San Francisco.
Stop at the small quaint little towns along the way and appreciate the architecture and small-town vibes. Don’t pass up the larger cities though as they all have plenty of unique things to offer.
I drove all the way from Jedediah Smith State Park to Big Sur, I didn’t make it past there but what comes after that is on my list to get back to!
There is a toll to cross the Golden Gate Bridge and keep your eye on some others on the larger highways. I didn’t come across any on Highway 1.
In some areas the towns are far and between, so make sure you have snacks and water at all times!
This list goes in order from the very north of California to the south. So star them in your Google maps for later, and hit the road Jack!
