Whether you're living in a van, backpacking around Europe, hiking the West Coast Trail, or on an all-inclusive trip to Mexico, we cannot forget about our skin, especially when we're outdoors all day! Ultra Violet rays, air pollution, and change in temperature all have an effect on our skin. You must be thinking, "When I'm living out of a van or backpack, how am I supposed to bring along ALL of my skincare products?" With cleansers, toners, serums, and moisturizers to name a few, if we bring along all of our favorite products, we'll need a separate suitcase just for those! So, I have a few travel skin care tips for the girl who is conquering the world one adventure at a time while still caring about her skin.
Normally I'm not huge on purchasing skincare products from a grocery store; however, in this case, I am making an exception. Garnier Skin Active Micellar Cleansing Water is perfect for travel, and you can find it in almost any grocery or drug store. In one bottle, you are getting a makeup remover, cleanser (no water needed), and toner. It's also hydrating, keeping your skin moisturized. I wouldn't recommend this as part of your everyday skincare regimen at home, but for the girl who is trying to travel light and wants to maintain clean, healthy skin, then the Garnier Skin Active Micellar Cleansing Water is just what you need.
These reusable cloths from Danielle Erase Your Face are another suitcase win. These cloths are lightweight and reusable, which means you don’t need to bring along a ton of single-use makeup remover pads. The cloths take up less space in your backpack, and you are helping the environment! Win-win if you ask me!
The final and most important of my travel skin care tips to bring along is a broad spectrum SPF 30+ sunscreen. With sunscreen, I will let you take your pick! People can be picky with sunscreen and how it feels on their skin, and everyone has their own favorite. Just make sure it is broad-spectrum (protecting you from both UVA and UVB rays), and at least 30+. There's no need to go over 50 thought as you're already protecting yourself from approximately 97-98% of the harmful stuff.
If you have space, I advise you pack a facial spray. These are great because they act as a toner and give an extra boost of hydration throughout the day. The great thing is you can use facial spray while wearing makeup. One of my favorites is the facial rose spray by Grace & Stella. I love it and use it every day before and after I apply my makeup!
One thing to stay clear of are makeup removing wipes. These can strip the skin of its natural moisture barrier, leaving your skin extra oily due to the loss in moisture.
So there you have it, three products which will take up as much space as a pair of flip flops! If you have any of your own special travel skincare tips, let me know on Instagram @bareskinco.bynikki - Remember, healthy skin gives you the confidence to face the world!
